Outreach Intern- Baker High School Tree Planting
Last week I helped plant a thousand trees with the Advanced Biology class at Baker High School! We were planting trees on land that was burned during summer's fires. The land that once had many beautiful trees and a house was managed over the years by thinning the trees, but the conditions of the fire were too extreme. The landowner, Dan Prassard, and Logan McCrae from ODF explained this to the students, answered some questions and gave them a tree planting demonstration before everyone broke into groups. The students worked hard and were very enthusiastic and excited while planting. When all the trees were planted, Christo Morris, Council's Executive Director, gave the students some quick education about erosion, and then everybody was on their way.
